Byline Festival: The Festival that wants to Change the World

On Saturday, 12 July at 3:45pm Carole will give a keynote interview with Bylines' Founding Editor Hardeep Matharu on the thorny and painful (for journalists at least) question Does Journalism Change Anything?

She will then join the panel Women On The Frontline Of The Information War. Finally, also on Saturday, with Peter Jukes, Christopher Steele and Sergei Cristo, she will be answering questions about Russian interference in British politics at their talk on The Westminster Spy Ring, inspired by the chart-topping podcast produced by The Citizens and Project Citizens.

‘Sergei And The Westminster Spy Ring’, Podcast from the Citizens & Project Citizen
A new nine-part podcast series, where Russian wealth and glamour collide with a wild west of new digital landscapes.

On Sunday, 13 July, at 12:30 pm, Clara Maguire and Manasa Narayanan from Team Citizens will be hosting a panel discussion on Big Tech & Labour: Is Starmer Letting the Fox Guard the Hen House?

Labour’s growth agenda dominates the headlines - from trade deals to AI data centres meant to make us “hospitable to innovation”... But is this code for a handover of power to BigTech? From public sector contracts with Palantir, the proposed slashing of the Digital Services tax to deepen the US / UK Tech Pact, to taking our own axe to civil service in favour of automation - are we too closely following behind the US into an unholy alliance of State & Tech power - and what can we do about it?

We would love to spend time with you! Join us!
