It Could Be Worse, You Could Be Sheryl Sandberg’s Assistant
Plus: Getting to Know Bluesky’s Anti-Oligarch

Dear Citizen,
As bad as Elon Musk is, he’s not the only villain on the Re-United radar. This week, Zuck strapped on six more gold chains and gave Musk a run for his money, suing to silence the whistleblower-slash-author of “Careless People,” an account of Sarah Wynn-Williams' time at Meta.
Sheryl Sandberg in her PJs stroking her assistant’s hair? Check. Meta VP of Policy Joel Kaplan wanting to know about the author's amniotic fluid? Ew! Selling your data to China? Check!
This week’s edition of the Citizens Re-United is all about Meta.
# ONE CLICK # GET ZUCK A MATCHA LATTE!
Friend of the Citizens Jason Kint is one of our heroes, tracking and analyzing the minutiae of the myriad legal actions against Meta. This week Jason is waving the blue thumbs up flag: Meta is quietly fighting for its life in court.

Worse yet for our villain Mark Zuckerberg …
Get the man some creatine!
In this thread, which you can follow on Bluesky or X, Jason lays out the implications of the trial, previews Mark Zuckerberg’s seven hours of potentially blockbuster testimony, and argues that in spite of cozying up to Trump, Meta still finds itself in some hot water. Jason’s bottom line?
Mark Zuckerberg is scheduled to be on the witness stand next month for seven hours and the DC Court's decision on the dispute… could open him up to questions of child harm on Instagram making his Senate hearing look easy.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
# ONE LINK # SHOTS FIRED!
Et tu, Bluesky?
At SXSW conference last week, Bluesky CEO Jay Graber took a clear swipe at Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg when she took to stage wearing a shirt that copied an infamous one he’d worn last year at a Meta product reveal event:
Graber’s shirt read Mundus sine Caesaribus, or “A world without Caesars” in Latin. It was the same design as Zuckerberg’s shirt from last year that read, Aut Zuck aut nihil, which is a play on the phrase, Aut Caesar aut nihil: Either Caesar or nothing.
As we learn more about Bluesky, Graber is someone to watch as the social platform starts to shape its POV. Jay's remarks at SXSW:
# ONE ACTION # JOIN OUR SIGNAL GROUP
Yes, this is the same “one action” as last week. But trust us, our Signal group is poppin’!
We’ve created a space where people can connect, converse and fight back against the power of Big Tech. We have a great conversation going - especially around alternative platforms and how to end-run the big platforms with new tools. To access it, you just have to install the Signal app.

That’s it for this week.
Until next time,
